E-Cigarette or Vaping Associated Lung Injury (EVALI)

National, state and local public health agencies are investigating a multi-state outbreak of e-cigarette or vaping associated lung injury (EVALI). CDC identified vitamin E acetate as a chemical of concern. But we don’t yet know enough to rule out other causes. EVALI is a diagnosis of exclusion because no specific test or marker currently exists. See CDC’s updated interim guidance for evaluating and caring for patients with suspected EVALI.
